atlanta live blog 3: will work for food

so, last time i did this it was wednesday, right? i think so. so that means i have all of thursday and friday to describe! now i just have to remember...

so, thursday, involved guess what? more manual labor! but what exactly did i do... oh yeah! so there was more baseboard work. dad & ron are convinced i am getting better at carpentry, but i beg to differ, since everything i did basically needed to be redone :P

selective photo of trim work that i did around the base

this is that same shitty corner i did, but with caulk! amazing stuff covered all my mistakes.
then we went to indian dinner, with a friend of theirs. went to a place that they almost always take me to, called bhojanic. it is a super nice indian place, and actually the first place i had indian food at. usually, ron just orders things, and then tells me what's in them, and i eat. well, when i go out to get indian myself now, i find that i don't know the actual names of anything! so, i made an effort to record what i ordered and ate this time, so i have a bit of a clue the next time i am off getting indian on my own.

1 meat, 2 vegetables. i got tikka masala with chole & alu gobhi
odd to have it in a tray, but it is what it is. top left is chole, middle is alu gobhi, right is tikka masala. bottom left is a yogurt sauce, middle is rice (with one of those cracker things i don't care for) and right is a cold bean salad it comes with. tons of food overall
so, then friday, was really just more work all day. did a lot of trim, specifically around the front door, which they insisted on being fancier than the rest of the room. we actually finished putting the baseboard all in the front 2 rooms, which is neat.

i did/helped with most of the trim you see anywhere in this photo
then for dinner, i felt a bit like i was in culinary school; had to peel & butterfly 2.5 dozen shrimp. i got really good at it by the end :) it all culminated in shrimp & grits. i am not a huge fan of grits, but it was really just more a starch to carry the shrimp & vegetables than anything else, so it was okay.

tastier than it looks.
and that is it for atlanta! drove back today, and now i am back home. it was a fun trip, and i always like hanging out with dad & ron. hope to go back soon. :)
he noticed photo

he did not.

  1. Tikka masala is always a good bet. And I LOVE shrimp and grits. Another good one - grits with goat cheese and chives. Delicious.

Your dad (if that is indeed your dad) looks a whole lot like you in that photo. Every time I've secretively tried to take photos of you, that's what you look like!
