A wild blog post appeared!

so, i am lazy, clearly. is it the school atmosphere that makes me less inclined to blog? i'm not sure. plenty has happened that would merit blog posts about, and yet here i am, most of the way through january, without a post since i have returned to school. 3 major topics to discuss, all of which will be briefly mentioned here, with one getting the most show time in this particular post. the other two topics will get their own posts (fingers crossed) in the coming days. days... good goal.

1. my hand is all sorts of fucked up (discussion for today)
2. comics (these are my free time enjoyment, and there is much more than just the new stuff i've talked about on here before)
3. school stuff and classes (comprehensive look at what i am taking and what i am excited about)

so, as alluded above, my hand is all sorts of fucked up. accidentally sliced it open on the blade for my new food processor, and let me tell you, those blades are sharp. sliced the large muscle on the palm of your hand, that connects to your thumb (i am no anatomist, i don't know names) graphic images bellow, if you do not like to see cuts and blood-like things.

(1.16.12) taken immediately after (at 1:43pm), by kelly, who was thankfully around for it. about 3/4-1 inch long, and about 1/2 centimeter deep. it bled. a lot. went into a bit of shock, which was unpleasant.

(1.16.12) initial bandage consisting of gauze pad and then a wrap to keep the pressure on it. taken at 3:03pm
later that same day. at 5:38pm. my super human healing has already presented itself, although there is quite a bit of discoloration around the muscle. unwrapped it to put on the Steri-Strips, which are shown bellow.

(1.18.12) these handy things that i got off of a recommendation from my mom, called Steri-Strips. they are basically sterile tape, that can be used to pull the wound closed. i used these in lieu of going to the hospital and getting stitches. didn't get a picture of them until a few days later. :)

this was 1.18.12 at night, when i went to change the bandages again. there is obvious skin death around the edges, but overall, progressive healing.

and then this is today, after extensive healing, i don't have strips on it anymore, or athletic tape holding the bandages on (no pictures of that). should be just find in a couple days.

and just about the entire saga of my hand cut is over. it has been really bothersome, specifically because it is on my left hand, but it could have been a whole lot worse.

  1. Looks pretty nasty. Good thing you didn't have to get stitches :)
