here we are again! amazing at how i am keeping this up... i guess when i don't have school as a distraction, blogging is less of a hassel. also i am not filling these with links i doubt anyone is clicking, which saves me a good deal of time. ;)
so, last time, it was sunday, and today is wednesday, so clearly much has transpired. there will be a picasa web album up from my trip containing ALL of the photos i have taken, but for now, the highlights found here are good.
yesterday, i began work around the house. this place is in a constant state of disarray and remodeling, so there is
always work to be done. the project of the day lately has been putting up framing for doors, specifically designed to hold french doors, like so:
 |
i can almost do this |
i've done multiple (read: 4) of these - tomorrow i paint them! also, laying hardwood floor, which i am best at of all these tasks (because frankly, it is easy). i cannot however,
miter (damn, a link!) corners very well for the baseboard that they are putting down... yeah i really suck at that. i am no carpenter.
 |
i didn't do this specific part, ron did. but it is a good picture of it. |
 |
see those gaps and unevenness? yeah it shouldn't be like that. |
but, on a more positive note, here are some things i saw at a new big asian market today. took photos of things i hadn't seen before, and felt really out of place doing so.
 |
should be razor clams. i find this funny, shut up. |
 |
never seen parrot fish. wonder if it is tasty... |
 |
live eel! would hardly know where to begin if i ever got one to cook... |
 |
live conch, which i just thought was pretty neat. |
so, that is about it. fancy meal-wise, because that is how i generally document these trips to atlanta in my head, i have had smoked turkey for xmas, pho for lunch yesterday, has a great trip to what was actually a food court connected to the asian grocery where the photos above were taken. there we got all sorts of things to try, because it was the most international food court ever. they had: filipino, chinese, japanese, korean, vietnamese, russian, & peruvian there. we got this noodle dish from the filipino place for ron, which i did not get the name of, we got chicken filled
blinchiki (kind of like a crepe filled with tasty goodness) &
pirozhki from the russian place, and then a fried pork sandwich from the peruvian place that was fried pork, pickled red onions & cilantro, and sliced and cooked sweet potatoes, all on a baguette. it was fucking amazing. then tonight we made tongue tacos at home, from beef tongue that ron cooks in a pressure cooker. it was all pretty damn tasty.
okay, that is all for now. i think another of these will be posted saturday when i get home, to wrap up my time here. :)
I am so jealous of your Russian foods. In fact, I'm jealous of all the foods you got to eat. And laser clams sound dangerous!
ReplyDeleteGreatly enjoying your trip stories! :)
