1.08.2010

so here we go again. first blog of the 20-10. i guess that is an achievement. because of my savvy decision to start this thing in the last days of 2008, i can technically say that i've been active for 3 separate years, with posts in 2008, 2009, and 2010. impressive enough as this is, it is still just over 1 year from the creation, so no need to get too excited, no matter how awesome it is that i've been around from 2008-2010. we have a whole new batch of classes and activities to blog about. damn straight, i just managed to use the 2004 word of the year as a verb. only took me 6 years to have a legitimate excuse

anthropology - boring. we learned the scientific method, which i have had the joy of relearning ever year since the 3 grade because the teacher/professor doesn't "know if we have learned it yet". i feel that if i taught a high level class, such as in college or high school, i would take it upon myself to do a tad-bit or research in order to learn what my students already know, so that i don't waste time reteaching the same old shit.
physics - same ol' stuff as last year
physics lab - haven't had it yet
chemistry - looks to be just as difficult as last semester, but that really shouldn't be much of a problem, considering i got out of that with a solid B
psychology - it will be a fairly boring class, with a bunch of non interesting psychology shit, but that's to be expected. at least i have dr. sawrey as the professor, so lecture will at least be interesting...
chem lab - next week
sign language - this promises to be both my most interesting and challenging class of the semester. i was very glad that i already knew the alphabet, because it was a great help for the first class. there is a strict no talking policy in the class, so i guess on the same plane as the whole "only spanish" or "only french" is spoken kinda thing. the only advantage that those classes have, is that they can at least stop and explain things in english if all the students are struggling or lost. yeah... our teacher doesn't talk. at all. he mimes laughter even, so he has yet to make a noise. every thursday night for 3 hours, my running inner monologue is to be fed a healthy dose of not allowing me to vocalize said thoughts.

other: well this first week has been rather long already. so much activity since i got here last sunday night. syd's been here the whole time, which has been nice. it'll suck when she has to get back, but it's all for the best.

i have beat batman, so that was thrilling. definitely a wonderful game that deserves all the praise it has received. i'm now trying my hand at "Drake's Fortune" which has yet to spark any real interest in me, mainly because i am not a gun-weilding kind of person. also, i have never found anything from the game designers Naughty Dog that i have liked. i do not like crash bandicoot, nor the jak and daxter series. that being said, i still have a problem with running around shooting people. that has presented a problem with some people on the whole idea of gaming. i prefer games that do not require me to stand around and shoot people. if i am going to do fighting, i much prefer hand to hand combat, or at least a weapon that is more personal than a gun. oh yeah, and i'm not a huge zombie fan, so that also rules out a bunch of games.

i have however been enjoying the new super mario bros wii, to the disgust of all hardcore gamers everywhere. it is fun, and incredibly difficult when you have more than 1 player trying to negotiate a level at the same time.

thus far i've been oddly sociable with the other people that i've been forced to see day to day. this could be attributed to the fact that our apartment door has been open lately, or maybe i'm becoming a nicer person. i vote the door thingy.

not much else, but these are of interest:
i will still not stop eating pigs
it's like hoth out there!
similarly, you might just need to be in a tauntaun to get away from the cold...

oh yeah, i own this:
