first post of 2014. first of what i hope to be many, because 2014 has the potential to be an awesome year. lots of really cool things could be happening for me this year, and after only posting and using this blog 6 times last year, I really wanted to revive it and make it something new and fresh. thus the new paint coat it has received; very minimalist now, compared to the busy structure it had before. also, a new name...

this site has been with me since the tail end of 2008, so roughly 5 years now. in that time i've amassed some 185 posts, which you can see on the archive to the left. i've written about school, the internet, comics, friends, family, and all sorts of other things. now i want to make this a weekly (or possibly biweekly) column for myself. i want to give an actual update on things, like i used to do; a journal if you will. this will not just include "what i did in the last week" sorta stuff, although some posts will be dedicated to doing just that. but it will also have thoughts that are going through my head, that i feel are best explained in long form essay format, like i've done in the past. so ideally, this will be a fusion of what i used this blog for a long time ago, and what i've used it for more recently.

the other thing of importance, is that i will not be spreading this across every social media platform i have, like i had in the past. instead, this will stay exclusively on here, and on tumblr. i find that tumblr is my primary blog at this point in my life, so it should get dibs on these posts. they will still, mostly, be on here as posts because 1) i have loyalty to a blog that i created freshman year of college, and 2) this site allows for easier long-form writing than the tumblr interface does. that being said, tumblr will have exclusives not found on this blog, so that is the place to get the most out of me. depending on how well this experiment goes, there is a chance that this whole blogger platform for me will migrate to tumblr in the coming year. will let you know when/if that happens.

i have an extensive list of posts that i want to get to, that will be for the weeks when i have nothing exciting to tell you about. but hopefully this year, my life will actually be worth discussing on here. fingers crossed for a good year; this one has endless potential.
