7 iron

Onward to the 7iron, because really today is just yesterday's tomorrow, so i'm still on schedule, right? oh, and i modified them to be put under a read more click since these seem to be rather long, and take up a great deal of space.

also i'm vain and like seeing how many people click on it to read the rest the full article

righto! so my 7 iron, which is a middle iron swing will be not drastically, but still different from my wedge swing. my 7 iron is 33 degrees in loft, so significantly less than the 45 of my pitching wedge. it looks like this (except it does have a full follow through, just got cut off by the camera):

now, this is obviously not the most drastically different from before, since they are both the same style club, basically. besides the loft difference, there is a length difference. my pitching wedge is 35 inches long, and my 7 iron is 37 inches, so it will obviously produce a slightly different swing.

so, just as a means of comparison, the top photo is of my 7 iron, and the bottom is of my wedge. there is a slightly less upright stance, and i am standing farther away from the ball. it can be hard to notice if you don't have the pictures right next to each other.
so, this is the same problem that is presented in my pitching wedge. the club is slightly lower than the yellow line, but again, it is not that big of a deal.

now, here is a problem. after the backswing, this is the very start of my downswing towards the ball. as you can see, i am drastically above my yellow starting line. this is NOT good. i should be able to drop my hands about 6-8 inches lower in order to get the club back on plane.

this however, demonstrates how i am able to fix the problem in the 2 tenths of a second that it takes to get from the last photo to this one. somehow, i am able to drop my hands quickly enough to get relatively close to back on plane by the time i make contact with the ball. it is this saving grace that allows me to have anything even remotely resembling a swing that can work.
so, that is my 7 iron swing in a nutshell. it is fairly similar to the last entry, so i spent a little less time on it. however, it does show my major problem. the longer the club gets, the more out of sync my swing tends to become. this is fully demonstrated in the next entry on my driver.
