SO my BIO 495 Prof did this for everyone in our class. awesome.

"We amplified the HVR1 region of the mitochondrial control region (also known as the d-loop). Usually, sequences are compared to the Cambridge Reference Sequence (CRS), which derives from the first human (From Cambridge, UK) to have their control region sequenced.  You are classified into mtDNA haplogroups based on distinct fixed mutational differences from this CRS. "

it means they looked at our mitochondrial DNA after we spit in a cup. it traces the ancestry of my mom's lineage. it gave me this as a result. i'm thinking my part came more from the european side, as opposed to the asian side.

Haplogroup K: Common in Middle East, Western Eurasia, North Africa and South Asia, also somewhat common in France, Belgium, UK and Norway.

and here is my actual mtDNA sequence, just because i can.
